Jennifer Tsuruda:
University of Tennessee Entomology and Plant Pathology
Academic background: State Apiculturist Dr. Jennifer Tsuruda is an assistant professor and apiculture specialist in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology (EPP) at the University of Tennessee. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis
Current research projects? Jennifer has researched honey bee foraging, sensory responsiveness, physiology, and behavioral resistance against parasitic mites. At UT, Jennifer supports stakeholders through Extension programming such as the Tennessee Master Beekeeping Program, while also researching beekeeping management practices and foraging resources. She has been the chair of the Heartland Apicultural Society, a board member of FieldWatch, a past president of the American Association of Professional Apiculturists, and past chair of the Entomological Society of America’s Student Transition and Early Professionals Committee.
